The Singing Americans of Stanly County will perform in Wadesboro later this month.

The 45-voice choir, composed of singers from throughout Stanly and surrounding counties, will perform “The Love of God at Christmas” by Joel Lindsey, Sue C. Smith and Russell Mauldin under the direction of Douglas Freeman.

Sharing a love of God and country, members have shared patriotic and Christmas programs in the community since 1976.

“Members have embraced the purpose to encourage and inspire audiences to cherish the freedoms we have in America, and celebrate the birth of our lord and savior,” singer Patricia McLendon said.

All performances are free and open to the public. Donations received are used to purchase music and equipment. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1945, Albemarle, NC 28002.

Serving as officers for the Singing Americans are: Jane Whitley, president; Henry Springer, vice-president; and Bonnie Medlin, secretary/treasurer. The board of directors is made up of Chairlady Patsy Mills, Claudette Burris, Dianne Morgan , Ellen Smith and Douglas Freeman.

The Singing Americans of Stanly County are supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. For more on the Singing Americans, visit their Facebook page or contact director Douglas Freeman at dfreeman@vnet.net.
