Two students — Jasmine Lindsey and Ragien Bright — were recently awarded $500 scholarships by the Morven chapter of Las Amigas, Inc.

Lindsey accepted her award May 30 at the District Scholarship Night held at Ansonia Theatre from Morven chapter LANBF Treasurer Johnie Pettiford. Bright was not present.

Both recipients reside in Morven and recently graduated from Anson High School.

Lindsey will attend UNC-Charlotte and plans to major in accounting with a minor in business. She is the daughter of John and Jennifer Lindsey.

Bright will attend UNC-Pembroke and plans to major in nursing with a minor in marketing. She is the daughter of Reginald and Latanga Bright.

Las Amigas is a non-profit organization and was established in 1987. Over the past 29 years, the group has generated scholarships fund in excess over $64,000. The scholarships are awarded annually to current high school students to provide the opportunity for them to meet their educational goals.
