Southside Baptist Church has announced that the Rev. Bruce Landon has accepted the position of pastor effective March 26.

Landon holds a master of arts in religion from Southern Evangelical Seminary. He was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 2004 and served as pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Marshville and Grace Community Baptist Church in Polkton.

Landon and his wife, Kathy, have eight children and five grandchildren. He coaches Anson Parks and Recreation youth soccer. The family resides in Polkton.

“I am so thankful for the opportunity that God has given me to serve as pastor of Southside Baptist Church,” Landon said of his recent appointment. “What a blessing to serve the Lord there with my brothers and sisters in Christ. I am excited to see what God is going to do.”

“Southside Baptist Church is very happy to have Rev. Landon as its new pastor,” the church said in a release. “The congregation looks forward to him sharing his knowledge of God’s Word with the church. Please help Southside Baptist Church welcome the Landon family.”

All are welcome to attend Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. on Sunday and a prayer meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
