Strong turnout for early voting in second primary

Even with a holiday weekend, early voting for the second sheriff’s candidates primary has had a strong start.

By the end of the day on Monday, 1,145 people had cast their vote since early voting began on Thursday. The candidates are Democrats Landric Reid and Mike Smith.

Early voting will continue throughout this week. The polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday.

Election Day will be on July 15.
