May 9, 2014

WINGATE — N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory will be the keynote speaker at Wingate University’s 118th Commencement on May 17.

“This is always a very special day in the life of our university family,” said Wingate University President Jerry E. McGee. “Having the governor here on campus is certainly an honor and we look forward to hearing the message he has for our graduates.”

Wingate is graduating its largest class ever with a record number of 622 graduates. And the university is offering two new degrees: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) and Master of Arts in Sport Management (MASM).

The speech may be broadcast by the national cable public affairs network, C-SPAN. Commencement will be held on Wingate’s Academic Quadrangle beginning at 9 a.m.
