Losing streak continues for Anson Bearcats

Both the JV and varsity teams of Anson High School’s baseball and softball teams suffered losses in their recent games.


The boys’ varsity baseball team lost their game to Central Academy 6-0 last Tuesday and lost to Forest Hills 2-1 on Friday. That loss moved the boys to a 1-7 season. The boys will play at Piedmont High School at 7 p.m. on Thursday and at home against Piedmont at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The JV team has had equally rough games. They lost to Central Academy 12-5 last Thursday and then suffered an 11-0 defeat to Forest Hills on Friday. Their last loss moved them to a 1-6 overall season score. They will play against Piedmont at home at 4:30 on Friday.


The girls’ varsity softball team lost their game against Sun Vally 2-1 on Friday. Neither team managed to make a run until Anson made one in the fourth inning. The Lady Cats continued to stay ahead until the final inning, when Sun Valley made two just in time to beat Anson. This loss gives Anson a 1-5 season. They will play at Weddington High School on Friday at 6 p.m. Their next home game will be against Marvin Ridge at 4:30 p.m. next Friday.

The girls’ JV softball team also lost their game to Sun Valley, losing 12-10. They will play at Weddington High School on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and will play at home against Sun Valley at 4:30 p.m. on April 8.
