Work is steadily under way for a local Taco Bell, which is on track to become Wadesboro’s newest restaurant.

The Taco Bell will be located on the northwest corner of U.S. 74 West and Kitty Bennett Road in Wadesboro, near Walmart and between the Sonic and the Murphy Oil gas station.

Project manager Chris Clayton said that the new Taco Bell should be completed in very early spring, probably in March or April. “It’s one of the newer prototype buildings and won’t look like the old-school Taco Bells you’re used to seeing,” he said. “You should see a newer, fresher look.”

The restaurant will be in a 2,075-square-foot building and will have about 36 parking spaces. Clayton estimated that it will hire roughly 20 employees. “It should be a good addition to the community,” he said.

Clayton is with civil engineering company Commercial Site Design, which is working on the restaurant for franchisee Luihn Food Systems, Inc. Luihn owns over 75 locations in the Southeast, including multiple KFCs and Taco Bells.
