The varsity Lady Cats won both of their games last weekend. The girls played at Richmond on Friday, winning 63-36.
They played against Forest Hills on Saturday, winning 59-41. The girls had a strong opening, making 17 points to Forest Hills’ 8 in the first quarter. Both teams made 12 points in the second quarter, making a halftime score of 29-20. Anson made twice as many points as Forest Hills in the third quarter, making 14 to Forest Hill’s 7 points. The Lady Cats continued to pull ahead in the final quarter, earning 16 points to Forest Hill’s 14 and winning the game 59-41.
The boys narrowly lost their game to Richmond on Friday, losting 85-82. The game initially looked promising, with Anson making 25 points to Richmond’s 13 in the first quarter, but Richmond pulled ahead in the second quarter, earning 26 points to Anson’s 11. This made a halftime score of 39-36, Richmond. In the third quarter, Richmond again made 26 points while Anson made 23. Anson made another 23 points in the final quarter to Richmond’s 20, but it wasn’t enough. The Bearcats lost 85-82.
The boys did win their game against Forest Hills on Saturday with a strong 91-79. The Bearcats were ahead from the start, making 23 points to Forest Hills’ 17. They fell slightly behind in the second quarter, making only 16 points to their rival’s 25 for a close halftime score of 42-39. Anson pulled ahead in the next two quarters, making 26 points to Forest Hills’ 15 in the third quarter and another 26 points to Forest Hills’ 22 in the final quarter, giving the Bearcats a 91-79 win.
Both teams will play at home against Cuthbertson on Friday. The girls’ varsity team will play at 6:30 p.m. while the boys’ varisty will play at 8 p.m.
