The Lady Cats narrowly won their game against Forest Hills on Thursday, 51-49.
Forest Hills started out ahead, making 12 points to Anson’s nine in the first quarter. By halftime, Forest Hills had 30 points to Anson’s 26 points.
In the third quarter, Forest Hills fell behind, making only 7 points to Anson’s 14 and making the score 40-37. In the fourth quarter, Anson made 11 points and Forest Hills made 12, letting Anson win 51-69.
The ladies also won their game against Forest Hills on Dec. 21, 59-39. The women were ahead from the start, earning 15 points to Forest Hills’ 11 in the first quarter. They pulled far ahead in the second quarter, making 14 points to Forest Hills’ four in the second quarter and making the halftime score 29-15. Anson pulled even further ahead in the third quarter, making 15 points to Forest Hills’ seven and, in the fourth quarter, making 15 points to Forest Hills’ seven, giving Anson a 59-39 win.
The men also won their game on Thursday, beating Central High School 82-70. Anson had a strong start, making 18 to Central’s 16 points. In the second quarter, Anson again earned 18 while Central made 19 points, putting Anson slightly ahead at halftime 36-35.
In the third quarter, Anson made 17 to Central’s 14, putting the Bearcats slightly ahead. Anson made 29 points in the fourth quarter to Central’s 21, giving the Anson men a strong 82-70 win.
The Bearcats lost their game against Forest Hills on Dec. 21, 64-54. The men made 16 points in the first quarter to Forest Hills’ 14. Forest Hills pulled ahead in the second quarter, making 16 points to Anson’s 10 for a halftime score putting Forest Hills slightly ahead 30-26. In the third quarter, Anson made only 10 points to Forest Hills’ 13, and only 18 points to Forest Hills’ 21 in the fourth quarter, letting Forest Hills pull ahead for a 64-54 win.
Anson will play their next games on Jan. 3, at Richmond with the ladies at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m.
