Nov. 23 proved to be an early Thanksgiving blessing for almost 70 households in Anson County. Harvest Ministries Outreach Center of Wadesboro took to the streets and handed out free turkeys in random locations and neighborhoods.
Lead Pastor Steve Adams shared, “Every year we try to provide a Thanksgiving meal for our community, but this year we wanted to do things a little different and try to bless as many families as possible with a turkey for their Thanksgiving meal.”
Unsuspecting people answered knocks at their front door and were greeted with a “Happy Thanksgiving!” and a turkey from an HMOC representative.
Adams added, “The support of the community in this outreach effort was once again phenomenal. Many gave turkeys, and some provided large financial donations to allow us to be able to make this happen, and one individual, Adrian Barnes, donated 10 turkeys towards the cause.”
To summarize this event, he said, “The spirit of Thanksgiving is never more evident than in something like this, where blessed people can be a blessing to someone else. I am overwhelmed and thankful to be a part of such a great congregation and community of people who “Find Needs and Fill Them, and Finds Hurts and Heals Them”
HMOC will now turn its efforts toward the Dec. 15 Community Christmas Blessing Event, which is now in its ninth year. That event will provide hundreds with a Christmas meal, toys and much more for the people of this entire region.
