JV lose at home against Marvin Ridge, 28-8

The JV team lost a home game to Marvin Ridge on Thursday, 28-8.


The boys ended the first quarter with 0 points to the Mavericks’ 7 points. Marvin Ridge made another touchdown and PAT (point after touchdown) with less than a minute left in the second quarter, bringing the score to 14-0.


With about two minutes left on the clock in the third quarter, CJ Cason (#8) carried the ball near the one-yard line, giving the Bearcats a first down. Then, with less than a minute left in the quarter, Jonathan Polk (#34) made the Bearcat’s only touchdown. The team successfully attempted a two-point conversion, bringing the score to 14-8.


The Mavericks made another touchdown and PAT less than a minute into the final quarter, making the score 21-8. A fight between the two teams broke out soon after that but was soon resolved. With one minute left on the clock, Marvin Ridge made another touchdown and PAT, making the final score 28-8.


The JV team has one game left this Thursday at Sun Valley at 6:30 p.m. Varsity will play its final Southern Carolina Conference game on Friday for Senior Night at 7:30 p.m.
