Anson County native Brittany Northcutt surpassed the 1,000 career kills mark on Oct. 6 for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. The five-set (25-15, 22-25, 27-25, 23-25, 15-9) victory over Ole Miss in Athens, Ga., increased the Bulldogs’ record to 13-3.

Northcutt led the offense with 16 kills, becoming just the 16th hitter in Georgia history to amass over 1,000 kills in a career. She also picked up her third double double of the season with 12 digs. Northcutt was quick to give credit to her team.

“It’s awesome,” she said. “I’m really proud of the way my team played today and that contributed obviously and I definitely couldn’t have done it without them over the past four years.”

She is a senior at the University of Georgia, and previously represented the USA in the summer 2008-2009 High Performance A2 program, which won the championship. In December 2009, she was one of 28 athletes training at the USA Olympic Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Before attending UGA, she played for Triangle Volleyball Club in Raleigh. She led the team to a title at the Monument Classic Championships in Richmond, Va., in 2010.
