Varsity Bearcats get a win vs. PurnellSwett

The Bearcats varsity team won their game last Friday versus Purnell Swett 35-25.

In the first quarter, the Bearcats made one touchdown and scored the extra point kick while the Purnell Swett Rams made 0 points. Although the Rams made one touchdown in the second quarter, they did not make their extra point, while the Bearcats scored two touchdowns and two PATs (points after touchdown). This brought the score to 21-6 by halftime.

The Rams made a bit of a comeback in the third quarter, making two touchdowns and earning 12 points to the Bearcats’ 7, bringing the score to 28-18. Each team made a touchdown and a PAT in the fourth quarter, giving the Bearcats their 35-25 win.

This win gives the Bearcats an overall 3-2 season and a state ranking of 166 out of 412 as of last Thursday, according to high school sports website MaxPreps also listed Allen Campbell as the ‘Overall Player of the Game’ for his four touchdowns (two rushing, two receiving) in his “breakout performance of the season” last Friday.

The Bearcats will play against Richmond this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at home.
